What is salicylamide?
Salicylamide is a widely used chemical and pharmaceutical intermediate. It is also a medicine in itself, used to treat fever headache, neuralgia, arthralgia and active rheumatism. This product is white needle-like crystals, soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water, soluble in alkaline solutions such as ammonia and sodium hydroxide, and the aqueous solution is acidic. Industry uses concentrated sulfuric acid as a catalyst to synthesize methyl salicylate from salicylic acid through esterification.
