3,4-Dimethylphenol Production method
The crude phenol obtained from the washing oil fraction of coal tar through sodium hydroxide saponification and sulfuric acid acidification contains phenol, cresol and xylenol. The mixed xylenol can be obtained from the separation of crude phenol, 3,5-xylenol is removed by rectification, the remainder is rectified, and the 225-229℃ distillate is collected, cooled and crystallized, and centrifuged to obtain 3,4-xylenol . In addition, using o-xylene as raw material, the product can also be obtained through sulfonation, alkali fusion, acid precipitation, and distillation.
