Rubidium bromide, molecular formula RbBr, crystal structure similar to sodium chloride, its lattice stability at 685 picometers. There are many ways to synthesize rubidium bromide. One is the reaction of rubidium hydroxide with hydrogen bromide: RbOH + HBr → RbBr + H2O. The other is to neutralize rubidium carbonate with hydrogen bromide: RB 2CO 3 + 2 HBr →2 RbBr + H2O + Co2. Although rubidium can also react directly with bromine to form rubidium bromide, but this process is impractical, not only because rubidium is more expensive than carbonate and hydrogen bromide, but also because the reaction can cause an explosion.
