What is povidone iodine?
Povidone iodine is a loose complex of iodine and surfactant povidone. Povidone acts as a carrier and solubilizer. It contains 9% ～ 12% effective iodine, of which 80% ～ 90% bound iodine can be depolymerized into free iodine in solution.
This product has a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect and is effective against bacteria, spores, fungi, chlamydia, mycoplasma, and viruses. Stubborn people need higher concentration and longer time. This product is stable in nature, low in odor, low in toxicity, and non-irritating to mucous membranes. Clinically, it can be used for skin infections, mucosal trauma or infection, injection site disinfection, surgical disinfection, etc. Generally use its 0.05% ~ 0.1% diluent. It is not suitable for those with large wounds. Organic matter can reduce its effect. Avoid those who are allergic to iodine.
