O-Cresol can be used to make the herbicide dimethyltetrazole, diluent, disinfectant and pharmaceutical intermediate for the production of sebacic acid. It is also used in the production of resins, plasticizers, perfumes, dyes, and analytical reagents for testing nitrates and arsenic acid.
