Description of D-camphor
Camphor is a waxy, flammable, white or transparent solid with a strong aroma. It is a terpenoid with the chemical formula C10H16O. It is found in the wood of the camphor laurel (Cinnamomum camphora), a large evergreen tree found in Asia (particularly in Sumatra, Indonesia and Borneo) and also of the unrelated kapur tree, a tall timber tree from the same region. It also occurs in some other related trees in the laurel family, notably Ocotea usambarensis. The oil in rosemary leaves (Rosmarinus officinalis), in the mint family, contains 10 to 20% camphor, while camphorweed (Heterotheca) only contains some 5%. Camphor can also be synthetically produced from oil of turpentine. It is used for its scent, as an ingredient in cooking (mainly in India), as an embalming fluid, for medicinal purposes, and in religious ceremonies. A major source of camphor in Asia is camphor basil (the parent of African blue basil).
The molecule has two possible enantiomers as shown in the structural diagrams. The structure on the left is the naturally occurring (R)-form, while its mirror image shown on the right is the (S)-form.
Norcamphor is a camphor derivative with the three methyl groups replaced by hydrogen.

What is D-camphor?
With the progress of science and technology and the development of society, chemical products have invariably permeated our daily lives, in medicine, food, cosmetics, electronics, industry, and other areas, becoming an essential part of our lives. One such product is Ambroxan which has developed particularly rapidly in recent years. Do you know about Ambroxan?
The official answer:
Camphor, also known as 2-bornyl, is a bicyclic terpene ketone compound
What’s the application of D-camphor?
It is white crystalline powder or colorless semi-transparent hard lump, with irritating special odor, pungent at first, then cool, volatile at room temperature, soluble in ethanol, fatty oil or volatile oil, very soluble in water. Camphor has a weak antiseptic effect. When applied to skin, it stimulates the cold sensory receptors of skin and has cool sensation, so the itching sensation can and has anti-itch effect.
Rubbing with force will cause vasodilation and redness of skin. Camphor also has some weak local anesthetic effect. It can as excitant and wind repellent, and as skin irritant for neuralgia, muscle pain or joint pain, etc. It can also as local irritant to treat frostbite (unbroken), etc.
It with menthol etc. to compound camphor ointment, which has the effect of antipruritic, antiseptic and improving local blood circulation, and for unbroken frostbite, neurodermatitis, etc. It can also with peanut oil to form 20% camphor application, which is a soothing stimulant and often used for neuralgia, muscle pain or joint pain, etc.
