Products Description of Cupric oxide CAS 1317-38-0

Copper oxide is an inorganic substance with chemical formula CuO. It is a black oxide of copper, slightly hermaphroditic and slightly hygroscopic. It is insoluble in water and soluble in acid. It is stable to heat and decomposes oxygen at high temperature. Under high temperature, hydrogen or carbon monoxide can be reduced to metallic copper. Copper oxide is heated in Chemicalbook air, and oxygen is released at about 1050 ℃ to reduce to cuprous oxide. If it is in the hydrogen or carbon monoxide gas stream, it is easy to be reduced to metal copper even under 250 ℃. Although copper oxide is insoluble in water, it can be dissolved in aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide.
