It is light yellow crystal powder, slightly dissolves in water but less hardly dissolves in chloroform, ethanol and other organic solvents. Stable when dry but easy to decomposed in strong acid and strong alkali. It can be further machined to be granules. The best antisepsis PH value is 5-7. It has no pollution because the residues could be biodegraded in short time after antisepsis.

It is an excellent selective brominating agent, mainly be used in compounding of pharmaceutical intermediate and the gain rate and cost performance ratio are higher than NBS (N-bromosuccinimide). Besides, it could be used as disinfectant for water body of aquaculture, swimming pool, industrial circulating water, and environments of hotel, hospital etc public places.
