Using benzaldehyde as raw material, 3-Nitrobenzaldehyde can be produced by titration with potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate, or nitric acid in the presence of sulphuric acid, all in yields of approximately 80%, 60%, and 75% respectively. Add sulphuric acid to the reaction kettle, add sodium nitrate while stirring, heat to 70°C to dissolve it all, lower the temperature to 5°C, add benzaldehyde dropwise, 5-10°C to finish, react for 1h, add the reactant slowly to crushed ice, stir thoroughly to make complete precipitation, filter out the precipitate, wash the acid with sodium carbonate at 10°C, filter dry, wash with alcohol to remove the o-nitro substance, dry at low temperature under reduced pressure to obtain this product.

Product use

It is used as intermediates of dyestuff, photosensitive materials, and drugs such as nitrendipine, nimodipine, and nicardipine; it is an intermediate of organic synthesis of medicine, dyestuff, and surfactant. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the synthesis of calcium iopromide, iopanoic acid, m-hydroxylamine bitartrate, nimodipine, oxcarbazepine, nifedipine, and niludipine. It is used as an intermediate in the organic synthesis of dyestuffs, surfactants, and pharmaceuticals. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the production of calcium iopromide, calcium propanoate, calcium cholesteatomidine, m-hydroxybutyrophenic acid, nitrobenzene, etc.

Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Store separately from oxidizers, acids, alkalis, and edible chemicals and do not mix them. Equipped with the appropriate variety and quantity of fire-fighting equipment. Suitable materials should also be available to shelter leaks. Packed in 25kg cardboard drums (lined with double plastic bags) and stored in a cool, dry place with sealed containers, away from strong oxidizing agents and strong alkalis.
