Natural creosote is a mixture of guaiacol, creosol and other phenolic compounds obtained from wood tar. Creosote is a clear, slightly yellowish, highly refractive, oily fluid. The product has penetrating, smokey odour and a burning taste. It is neutral or slightly acidic in reaction. The solubility in water at 20°C is less than 0.1 weight-%. The product may turn darker during storage, without affecting the active substances.
