White prismatic crystals. Melting point 301°C. 1g can be dissolved in about 5L of water at 15°C, soluble in hot ethanol and glacial acetic acid.

Muconic acid production method
Dissolve 3 kg of potassium hydroxide in 5 L of methanol, stir, and add 1130 g of α,δ-dibromoadipate diethyl ester heated to 100°C dropwise.
Adjust the feeding speed to make the reactant reflux more violently.
Continue heating and stirring for 2h after adding. Leave it at room temperature overnight, filter out the potassium salt of 2,4-adipenedioate and potassium bromide.
Dissolve the filter cake in 8L of hot water, add 30g of activated carbon to boil, and filter. The filtrate is cooled and acidified by adding concentrated hydrochloric acid.
The product was filtered, washed, and dried to obtain 165-195 g of 2,4-hexadienedioic acid. The yield is 37%-43%.
